Erase from the app
- Open Anonium and go to My Link.
- Scroll down and tap Erase everything.
- Confirm. Your phone needs an internet connection so the server copy can be deleted first.
What gets deleted
- Your account record, encryption key and notification token on our servers.
- Every link you made and your @username. They stop working immediately, and anyone who opens them sees that the link no longer exists.
- Encrypted messages that were still waiting to be delivered to you, and chats people started with you from the web.
- The routing records that let existing chats reach you.
- Your anonymous sign-in, so the account cannot be used again.
- All chats, drafts and settings on the phone you erase from.
What may remain
A few things are kept only where they are needed for safety or the law: reports about messages that are still being reviewed, a record that an account was banned (so deleting is not a way around a ban), and records that Google Play or the App Store keep about purchases. Deleted information may also stay in routine server backups for a short time before they are overwritten. Messages you sent to other people stay on their phones, as with any messaging app.
If you no longer have the device
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. If you have lost the phone, your chats are not stored anywhere else, and the account can no longer be used. Email [email protected] with the link or @username and anything that helps show it was yours. Because links are public, we may pause a link first and delete the account once we can reasonably connect the request to it.
Subscriptions are separate
Deleting your account or uninstalling Anonium does not cancel a Supporters subscription. Cancel recurring billing in Google Play or in your Apple ID settings, using the account you subscribed with.
